Wellness coaching
A wellness coach is a professional skilled in helping you connect the dots between where you are and where you’d like to be. A coach is your partner and ally but does not tell you what to do. You are the expert of your own life and wellness is a personal journey that will be different for everyone. You are responsible for making the final decisions and taking the actions, but your coach will help you refine your goals, develop a plan to achieve them, and provide support as you navigate your way to your best possible self.

What is wellness?Being well is much more than just being free from illness; it’s thriving in your own life. Wellness is purposefully living a fulfilling life with balance in physical, social, mental, and emotional health. Wellness is connecting with and accepting your true self, acknowledging circumstances you’d like to change, and maximizing your individual talents and passions to consistently live in a way that brings your dreams to reality. For some this may be achieving a very specific goal like weight loss or smoking cessation, and for others it may be more general like being happier or improving relationships with loved ones.

What to expect while working with your wellness coach
You and your wellness coach will have conversations regularly, either in person at our office or over the phone. Because wellness encompasses a broad spectrum of topics, discussions may include: weight management, nutrition and menu planning, exercise and fitness, sleep, stress management, managing medical issues, life balance, smoking cessation, or many other topics. The agenda for each conversation can be set by you depending on what area of your wellness is most important at that time, or your coach can help stimulate conversations and idea flow. Together you and your coach will discuss your wellness challenges, explore the various contributing factors and barriers to change, and create strategies for overcoming them. Then, as a team you’ll work through these strategies together, making adjustments and changes as you progress.
Before your first conversation with your coach, you will be asked to complete a few forms that will help you and your coach start to connect with your current state of wellness and stimulate thinking about the level of wellness you’d like to achieve.
The length and frequency of coaching sessions will depend on your personal needs, but you can expect e-mail follow-up from your coach after each conversation. Between coaching sessions you will also have access to your coach via e-mail for questions, accountability, and encouragement.
